Description
NOTE: This poster contains a white edge border.
Along the shores of Lake Michigan is this sweet Lighthouse known as Little Sable Point - just south of Silver Lake Sand Dunes. It is part of Silver Lake State Park, a popular area for recreation. The presence and continuous use of the original Third Order Fresnel lens makes this a relatively rare light. This is one of only seventy such lenses that are still operational in the United States, sixteen of which are in use on the Great Lakes of which eight are in Michigan
Built in 1874, you can climb the 139 steps in the towering brick and mortar round Light. There is no light keepers house.
